Bristol Avon Rivers Trust delivers a wide range of activities that require external assistance, from civil engineering for the construction of fish passes, to publicity and promotion activities for awareness raising campaigns. In procuring our external works we endeavour to achieve best value in all its procurement activity. Best value is measured in terms of quality, reliability, fitness for purpose, reputation, “after sales” support, and ethical considerations as well as price.
As part of this we have a Quantitative, Qualitative and Statutory Framework that we employ. Contract opportunities will be listed below – please click the appropriate link to view further information about the opportunity.

Landscape Recovery Delivery Tender
The Bristol Avon Rivers Trust (BART) are working in partnership with Avon Needs Trees on a 15 Month Defra-funded Landscape Recovery Project located within the Lower Chew catchment area. The environmental vision for this project is to enhance the connectivity of habitats through the creation of catchment woodland, grassland, hedgerows and orchards, whilst reconnecting the River Chew to its floodplain and subsequently creating new vital floodplain habitats for once abundant wetland bird species.
There are eight farms that have agreed to take part in the project, and they are all centred around the River Chew near Pensford, Bristol. The proposed new habitats aim to enhance the biodiversity of the farmland while being managed sympathetically and efficiently within the existing farming operation. Through the Landscape Recovery Project, we are looking to design a series of measures that will restore the connectivity of the River Chew with its floodplain again and with this help to attract the species back to these habitats which were once common.
Outline and detailed designs created by BART and consultants for the creation of a range of “blue” nature-based solutions have been approved by landowners at each of the 8 farms within the Landscape Recovery Project. Although approval has been sought for these measures from the landowners, the proposals and contents of this document and the project overall is to remain strictly confidential. Those contractors quoting for the work contained within this tender document will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Following on from the design stage, we are seeking costing for the delivery of the nature-base solutions across the 8 farms within the Landscape Recovery Project as a phased approach from April 2026 onwards.
