As Head of Programmes, Ben leads BART’s work across the Bristol Avon catchment, overseeing the development, coordination and delivery of major environmental and community initiatives — from river restoration to building climate resilience.
He has spent most of his career leading environmental programmes and building partnerships that turn ambition into effective delivery, bringing together government, business, philanthropy, civil society and communities.
Ben joins BART from Nature4Climate, where, as Director, he led strategy and delivery across a global coalition working to unlock ambitious policy change and private investment in nature-based solutions.
Before that, as Chief Strategy Officer at Common Seas, he helped grow the organisation from a start-up into a leading organisation stopping the flow of pollution into our rivers and ocean — securing government partnerships, helping communities reduce single-use plastics, and contributing to pioneering research into the impacts of pollution on human health. Earlier in his career, he led conservation, citizen science and sustainability programmes spanning rivers, oceans, forests and agricultural landscapes.
Ben lives in Easton with his wife and daughter and loves Bristol’s community, music and food scene — as well as easy escapes into the wonderful nature on the city’s doorstep.
