Jules studied for a BSc (Hons) in Ecology and went onto complete a M.Phil in Environment and Development at Cambridge University, where her research project looked at the results of restoration of Ecological Restoration of mineral and gravel extraction sites.
After starting as a volunteer at The Mammal Society, she became a passionate advocate for the value of volunteering to UK nature conservation and recovery. Moving onto the Bat Conservation Trust, as well as developing an interest in bioacoustics, she delivered conservation and monitoring projects that relied upon the efforts of citizen scientists. Later, in working for the RSPB, Herefordshire Amphibian and Reptile Team, The Marine Conservation Society, Herefordshire Meadows and Natural England, she focused on roles in engagement, volunteer management and community science that put people at the heart.
Jules continues to volunteer for marine data gathering projects in SW England and brings her belief in citizen science and her passion for nature to BART. When not poking about in rockpools or snorkelling she can be found birdwatching or tending to her tadpole tanks.
